INA CHODLADH
Waking up a sleeping culture.

Kilmainham Mill has stood in silence since 2000, void of the energy and craft that once filled its walls. This project explores Kilmainham Mill through the lens of human energy, drawing parallels between its dormancy and the cultural void left by Irish emigration and colonization. The energy that once filled the walls of Kilmainham mill is gone but never forgotten. Just as the absence of people strips a place of its vitality, the mill remains "ina chodladh" (asleep), waiting to be reawakened. What happens to a space void of people and the energy they bring?

Through this work, we highlight the power of human presence in shaping culture and the potential to breathe life back into forgotten spaces. While aspects of Irish culture fade, our hope is that they are not forever lost but rather "ina chodladh" and can be reawoken when we simply choose to interact.
